The “fall” and “fell” connection is probably obvious enough, but the “Red” part of the term could be a reference to the Redguards that call Hammerfell home. While the Redfall trademark could pertain to nearly anything, the term relates to the Hammerfell region in a couple of fascinating ways. The dispute has since been settled under undisclosed terms. There are a couple of trademarks and copyrights loosely connected to The Elder Scrolls 6, but the most fascinating of these potentially related terms has to be “Redfall.”Īs we’ve discussed before, sci-fi author Jay Falconer previously disputed a ZeniMax Media trademark application for the phrase Redfall as he had written a series of books under the same name. In fact, you could disregard that tweet entirely and still convince yourself that The Elder Scrolls 6 will take place in Hammerfell based on these pieces of direct and circumstantial evidence: The Name “Redfall” Is Loosely Connected To The Elder Scrolls 6 While that may sound like little more than wishful thinking fueled by information starved fans, this latest Elder Scrolls 6 rumor is really just the latest entry in an ever-growing case file that clearly points to Hammerfell as the leading location candidate. The meaning of that tweet is very much open to interpretation, but the placement of the lights, the wording of the text, and, admittedly, a few leaps in logic have led many fans to believe that the Hammerfell region featured at the bottom of that image is actually the setting for the next mainline Elder Scrolls game. Nintendo Switch System Update 16.0.0 Is Now Live, Here Ar.īest Nintendo Switch Music And Rhythm Games My suggestion is that everyone save up for an Xbox or a gaming PC. Absent a major hardware upgrade for the Switch (or whatever future system Nintendo has up their sleeve) and/or legal deal with Microsoft, it will never happen. So no, Elder Scrolls VI appearing on Switch just isn't feasible, both from a technical and legal viewpoint. It's entirely possible that they will go back on their word if they make the calculation that they will make more money by making it exclusive to Xbox and PC. Even though Microsoft "promised" that games from companies like Bethesda and Activision Blizzard would still appear on rival platforms, there is no reason to suggest they will keep their promise. Number two, ever since Microsoft bought out Bethesda, the company has started to move towards console exclusivity, such as with Starfield (which angered PlayStation users). What makes you think it would be able to run a mid-to-late 2020s game with hardware that was already outdated by a few years when it launched? Number one, the system barely runs Skyrim, and Skyrim is over 10 years old at this point. In all honesty, I don't see it coming to Switch. However, with Microsoft's purchase of Bethesda, the latter has said that their future games will be " on platforms where Game Pass exists." It's not looking good for Switch owners that want to get their mitts on a new Elder Scrolls, unfortunately. But just days ahead of the Xbox/Bethesda showcase, Todd Howard said that Starfield is getting the "finishing touches", so it's not wholly unlikely that we'll get a glimpse of ESVI. It's not a huge surprise that there's an Elder Scrolls sequel in the works at Bethesda - Skyrim is one of the most ubiquitous games out there, and it's even rumoured to be coming to Switch for a second time - but we have heard very little about it since its reveal in 2018.Īpparently, Bethesda's space game Starfield is the in-house priority, so executive producer Todd Howard has warned fans that they should be " very patient", especially since Starfield is looking to nab a 2023 release. Four years ago, The Elder Scrolls VI was announced, with little more than a title and a bit of concept art.
